How to Apply to Attend
Please read all five (5) steps below before proceeding to the Application.
After reading all five of these steps, complete the application at the bottom of this page. You must answer all of the questions. No registrations will be taken over the phone. All persons wanting to attend must personally register through this website.
Whetstone Consultations is required to give certain agencies priority placement. The target audience for this training are people doing or planning to do HIV counseling and testing such as a state health department staff, local health department staff or agencies funded by the Communicable Disease Branch for such services. Person doing HIV counseling at other venues or providing other services such as HIV case management are admitted as space allows. This training is NOT for person who simply need HIV contact hours for certification.
If you are placed in the training and then find you are unable to attend, please notify us immediately. Failure to forfeit your spot may jeopardize you and persons from your agency from attending in the future. This is a highly sought after training so help us make sure that no spots are left empty.

You are NOT accepted into a class until you receive official notification from us.
Bonus: Accreditation for Nurses
Continuing education credit will be provided through the Public Health Nursing and Professional Development (PHNPD) Unit. The PHNPD is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services contracts with Whetstone Consultations to provide the required 2.5 -day HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral Training. This skill-building training is designed to help organizations in North Carolina to counsel and test a wide-range of people for HIV in a variety of settings using a variety of technologies.
Persons wanting to attend this training must complete the application process described below. Priority will be given to persons working in agencies funded by the North Carolina Communicable Disease Branch.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all of the 2020 trainings will be offered on-line via ZOOM. While the delivery may be altered, the objectives, the topics and the experiences will be as similar as possible to the in-person training. All participants are required to attend the full two 1/2 days.
Here is a list of the dates the training will be conducted in 2022. In the application below, you will be asked to select your First and Second choice. Please have your date approved of by your agency/supervisor before applying. Thanks!
