What it means to be a man shapes the lives of both men and women. However men's realities are often stereotyped or misunderstood-frequently without much sympathy.
Whetstone staff has been addressing men's issues in workshops, consultation and presentations for over 20 years. We help agencies and groups explore, understand and support the needs of men in order to serve them better and live into a full, mature masculinity. We also work with agencies that serve woman to assist their clients to enhance their relationships with men. Our programs are created by, and often lead by, both a man and a woman to expand the perspective and enhance the reception of the ideas presented.
Whetstone's extensive public health experience makes us a powerful resource for workshops and consultation on men's health. Previous workshops have included "HIV: Men, Women and Culture," "Male Friendly Services" and "Men: The Other Gender Issue."
Whetstone's Bill Petz, a former minister, has created "ClergyMan™." This weekend workshop for male clergy examines the tension between the cultural expectations of men and of clergy, historical and textual supports and barriers, the matrix of "my father" and "Our Father", and enhanced services for men of faith.
If you want to serve men more fully, we will create a workshop for your staff or consult with your program leaders. Contact Bill at 828 628 3393 or Bill@PetzRitter.com.
